Serious web developers need to be proficient in JavaScript (JS), a programming language that allows for the creation of interactive and sophisticated website content. As mentioned above, you can learn these skills through a college course, which might cost $150 - $1,500 or more per credit hour depending on the school and whether you qualify for in-state/in-county student rates. You could also pursue an associate's or bachelor's degree in computer science, computer programming, information technology, or a related computer field and learn JavaScript (along with a broad range of other developer tools and computer languages). A more common option is to learn JavaScript through an online training program or intensive training session (either online or in-person). These classes typically assume that students already know HTML and in some cases, XHTML and CSS as well. If you don't have experience working with these languages, it's recommended that you learn the basics before tackling JavaScript.
